Many New Englanders head to warmer climates this time of year to escape the frigid temperatures and to soak up that much needed vitamin D. Whether you’re planning a week long getaway or a month long retreat, make sure you’re keeping your home safe from intruders while you’re out of town.
A few days ago I was driving around the village when I noticed some town flyers (that were passed out weeks before) stuck in the doors of some homes. Nothing says “There’s no one home!” to burglars like old mail and newspapers hanging around. With the amount of seasonal homeowners and winter escapees in our community, it’s important to do what we can to keep our neighborhoods safe and burglary free. Unfortunately, burglaries happen- a lot, but there are ways to lower the chance of break-ins from happening. First, I would ask your neighbors to check your mail while you are away and second, I would check out this blog for tips to help keep burglars out of your home:
